I started in Special Olympics in Minnesota and participated for years and found a place to belong. Then I moved to North Carolina and am involved in tennis, soccer and volleyball! I have made many friends, and learned great life skills. Special Olympics means a lot to me and many others. Please help me reach my fundraising goal!

Special Olympics New Hanover County provides year-round sports training, competition, social events, and Camp Shriver summer camp for people eight years of age and older with intellectual disabilities.

In New Hanover County, over 600 athletes participate in Special Olympics. Our program relies solely on private and corporate support as well as the efforts of over 300 volunteers to provide these services at no cost to the athletes or their families.Stephanie Abel
